Mangalore : Prakash Kammaradi, chairperson of Karnataka Agriculture Price Market Commission said that the commission will recommend the government to start online and e-trading of arecanut price to avoid middlemen in APMC.
Speaking at the press meet held on August 30 Saturday, he said that there is necessary to stabilize the prices during the fluctuations taking place in arecanut prices.
He also said that, unfortunately most of the trading of arecanut takes place outside the limits of APMC, Campco and Mamcos. Hence there is need to set up separate board for arecanut following the coffee Board and Rubber Board, which is directly linked to the Government.
Apart from arecanut, the commission will also encourage the farmers to increase the production of ragi, jowar and rain fed paddy cultivation.
Krushika Samaja president Sampath Samrajya, Campco president Konkody Padmanabha, Zilla panchayath chief executive officer Tulasi Maddineni, Horticulture department deputy director Yogesh H R and others were present.
