MAHE Professor, Dr. Satheesha Nayak Alambi’s name enters India Book of Records

Udupi : Dr. Satheesha Nayak Alambi has set a record by growing the tallest tapioca plant in the world. His record-breaking plant has found a place in the 2023 issue of India Book of Records. Earlier, this was published in the September 2022 issue of IBR magazine. Tapioca, botanically known as Manihot esculenta usually grows to a height of 10-20 feet height. The tallest plant so far, holding the Limca record measured 45 feet. Dr. Nayak’s plant measured 55 feet 10 inches and is still alive and growing to newer heights.

Dr. Nayak is currently working as a Professor of Anatomy at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and is well recognized for his teaching and research in the medical field. He has taught Human Anatomy to the students of more than 25 countries and has won the best teacher awards from MAHE several times. He is the leading anatomy researcher of India with more than 400 scientific publications and is one among the top 2% Scientists in the world as rated by the Stanford University of USA. He has won several gold medals for his research from MAHE and Karnataka chapter of Anatomists.
Dr. Nayak has a keen interest in plant anatomy and Behavior too. During his college days, his botany experiments were well appreciated by his internal and external examiners. Once, during the university exams, the external examiner had mentioned that one day in the future, Mr. Nayak will make a name in the field of plant anatomy. Dr. Nayak’s successful experiments in growing paddy has been followed by many at his village.

Dr. Nayak is very active in sustaining clean water and environment. His Swacch Bharath activities have been noted and appreciated by the Central Govt of India. He is one of the winners of the “Water Heroes of India” contest in the year 2022.

Dr. Nayak is the Son of Sri Alambi Vittala Nayak and Smt. Lakshmi Nayak and is an alumnus of Govt Higher Primary School 80th Badagabettu, Parkala Highschool, Manipal Junior College (MJC), Mahatma Gandhi Medical College (MGM) Udupi and Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Manipal.
