Uppinangady : One person died in an elephant attack reported near a stream in Shiradi in Uppinangady Range limits on Saturday.

The deceased is Thimappa (45). His son Sharan (18) sustained injuries and has been rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru.

Sources said, when Sharan was catching fish in Gundya river, the elephant appeared from nowhere and attacked him. Seeing this his father come rescue and died saving him.
