MCC to work for ‘Own your Road / Park’: Mayor

Mayor Praveen visited MG  Road for insfectionMangalore : Mayor Praveen said that the MCC has undertaken various city developmental projects in the fund sanctioned by the State Government in the first and second phase.
Speaking at the press meet held at his chamber at Mangalore City Corporation on March 5, Saturday he said that in the project, around 15 main roads have been concretized and other developments like main roads and parks under the theme ‘Own your Road / Park’.
Mangalore Mayor PraveenMangalore City Corporation in the developmental path is securing the third position in the state, hence the MCC is working to give better roads and parks and provide good service for the public. The city corporation will further scrutinize and appoint the staffs and other resource persons to complete the project in the given time, he said.
Mangalore Mayor PraveenMCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash, urged the public organizations, businessmen and nationalized banks to join hands with the City Corporation and work under the title ‘Own your Road/ Park’ for the development of the public properties like roads and parks. He also said that the MCC has identified 22 main roads and 5 parks for the development.

He also said that MCC will sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the organization with the aim to repair, restore and beautify the city roads and parks. Apart from it the zebra crossing, rubber synthetic humps and the cat eyes will also be implemented.
The amount of Rs 2.92 lakh per acre will be spent for a park and its maintenance. Out of the amount of Rs 28.58 crore, the amount of Rs 16 crore has been collected as per Feb 28, 2011, he added.
The identified parks are Mahatma Gandhi park at Mannagudda, Childrens park near Hamilton Circle, Mallikatte Park near Mallikatte Junction, Bharath Maidan Park near Jeppu Market and S L Maithais Park near Melina Mogeru, Attavar, he informed.
Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak and Standing Committee member R Shantha were present.
