Udupi : The 58th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations held at Mahatma Gandhi College ground, Udupi, on Friday, November 1.
The Kannada Bhuvaneshwari Chariot was brought with cultural tableaux to the Mahatma Gandhi College ground, Kunjibettu.
Vinay Kumar Sorake, State Minister of Urban Development and District minister in-charge, hoisted the Kannada and the national flags and received a guard of honour from the various parade team. In his Rajyotsava message he said that Plans are on implemented to connect Udupi-Manipal-Hiriadka-Karkala-Dharmasthala to Gundya road. Roads from Athrady to Bajpe International Airport will be connected wherein people can to the airport via Shirva. A sum Of Rs.60 crore has been earmarked for development of Agumbe ghat road.”said
Proficiency in Kannada can be a strong base for learning other languages. Mother tongue is the foundation for culture and society, he added.
The Government is planning to revitalize Brahmavar Sugar Factory by easing its financial burden. Rs 45 crore have been sanctioned to urban local bodies to develop Udupi, Karkala, Saligrama under second phase project. Underground drainage system project (KUDCEMP 2nd phase) will be implemented at Kundapur. Rs 100 crore will be sanctioned for the development of Hejmady port. Rs 153 crore proposal for development of roads and drainage coming under the jurisdiction of local bodies has been sent to the Central Government for approval. Rs 3 crore for the development of fisheries road has alreasy been sanctioned and the work is going on.”Sorake added. “The District has a total of 14,000 benefeciaries who have made use of various welfare schemes. Rs 42.56 crore has been earmarked for rural drinking water project, while Rs 200 crore has been sanctioned for setting water supply system in the District. Rs 10 crore for the maintenance of rural roads.”Sorake said.
“In order to develop the District as tourist destination roads will be constructed in seven tourist spots of the District. Four beaches will be developed an proposal of Rs 23.90 crore has been submitted for development of eight places.”he added.
