Mangaluru : Veerabhadra Channamalla Swamy of Nidumamidi Mutt said here on Tuesday that Bhagwad Gita cannot be considered a national religious text acceptable to people of all religions.
Addressing a gathering at the ‘walk for unity’ meeting in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, he said that the Constitution was the only “national religious text” acceptable to all and not even Bible or Quran.
The seer said that communal forces within all religions were attempting to destabilise the society now by organising their respective samajotsavas. Instead, samaja sudharanotsavas (rallies to reform society) should be organised.
He said that samajotsavas of all religions, including the Hindu samajotsavas, gave scope for communal conflict. Such events were being organised with a political motive of making certain sections of society like Dalits and backward classes as “vote bank”.
Those poor sections of the society were being prevented from coming to the main stream of the society, he alleged.
