Mangalore : A protest meeting largely attended by the Muslims and members of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was held on Monday (Dec.2) afternoon in front of DCO, to seek release of PDP Supremo Abdul Nasser Maudani who is jailed in Kerala for the blast that accrued in July 25, 2008. A Dalit leader and editor of a news paper called Dalit Voice, V T Rajashekhar who was lodged in a room in a hotel Thiruvananthapuram and arrested at the time of inauguration of PDP in Kerala State.
Rajashekhar attended the Monday rally in Mangalore and was the key note speaker of the day. He revealed that Maudani never committed terrorism but was keen only in helping his poor brethren of Muslim community and those deprived of their fundamental rights by opposition parties like BJP. He alleged that Maudani was arrested at the call of RSS and BJP when he was not a part of terrorist activities in Kerala or Tamil Nadu or Bangalore, where certain blasts had taken place. He was not having good health after his arrest and being in jail, has the food served to him was not good and even could be poisonous as he had to be released to return home in Kerala, from where he was taken away by Karnataka police at the behest of BJP rulers who then ruled Karnataka and suspected to Maudani of creating bomb blasts outside a cricket stadium in Bangalore.
Maudani was, Rajashekhar informed was still sick and unable to take part is politic activities like in own followers in PDP, who were demanding his immediate release in Karnataka to enable him to return home, eat good food and recover his health despite his advanced age.
Maudani was a social worker that RSS or BJP hated him as if he was a terrorist connected to bombing in several places, which was far from actual truth.
V T Rajashekhar demanded the immediate release of Maudani free of all charges imposed on him by BJP rulers. Now that there is Dalit CM is in Bangalore and Congress is in rule, there should be no difficulty in releasing Maudani without any allegations against him. Just because terrorism takes place in India in many places all Muslims and particularly PDP members, cannot be called has terrorists by any government that comes to rule. The PDP urges Maudani is released unconditionally, Rajashekhar insisted.
Devi Prasad Shetty of JDS, Malakkad Sha of PDP among others was present at the rally which did not issue any memorandum to the DC in Mangalore or to the government at Bangalore.
