Belthangady : A 48 year old man from Belthangady has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by the Additional Sessions Court in a case of raping a minor girl.

The convict has also been slapped a penalty of Rs 50,000.

The convict is Bobby. He was earlier charged with repeatedly raping the minor girl from December 19, 2021 to February 26, 2022. The victim had lodged a complaint at Belthangady police station in March last year following which the accused was arrested under POCSO and later a charge sheet was filed.

The convict will have to undergo an additional six months of imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.
