Mangalore: City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh released the book ‘Reaching Out to the Un-reached: The Corp Bank Way’ written on the sustainability and Replicability of Corporation Bank’s Financial Inclusion Model at Conference Hall of Corporation Bank’s Corporate office on September 29, Thursday.
Speaking after releasing the book written by Dr N K Thingalaya, Dr M S Moodithaya and Dr N S Shetty said that the book is based on Branchless Banking and when the Banks have less branches, there will be less crime.
He also said that the three professors, who are the masters in the field, have conducted the survey of financial inclusion of the Bank and the particular book went through the many area’s covering even, Jharkhand, which is very difficult. Further the bank must also cover the survey on the slum areas.
Corporation Bank, in its quest to gauge the penetration and the needs of the rural communities had engaged Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte, a professional management institute to conduct a study to understand the depth of penetration of banking facilities and on the impact of financial inclusion in the villages where Branchless Banking has been implemented. Dr N K Thingalaya, Former Chairman and Managing Director, Syndicate Bank, Dr M S Moodithaya, Global Initiatives, Nitte and Dr N S Shetty had devised a detailed format and conducted detailed survey at various villages across the country.
The findings of the survey conducted by the Institute and the methodology adopted by the Bank for extending financial services to rural areas has been brought out as book titled ‘Reaching Out to the Un-reached: The Corp Bank Way’ that would serve as a compendium for fellow Bankers, academicians and other organizations who are interested in the alternate model of bringing banking facilities to the rural communities.
The foreword for this book has been written by Dr K C Chakrabarty, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India and the book also carries a message from Shri D K Mittal, secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
