Mangaluru : Purushothama Bilimale, folklorist, Kannada litterateur and chairperson of Kannada Studies in Jawaharlal Nehru University, has been chosen for the ‘Polali Sheenappa Hegde and S.R Hegde Prashasti’ instituted by the Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Samshodhana Kendra here.
Dr. Bilimale hails from Panja in Puttur taluk. After his education in Vivekananda College, Puttur, and Madras University (Kannada), he did his Ph.D. under Viveka Rai. He has worked in Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, Mangalore University, Kannada University Hampi, and American Institute of Indian Studies.
He has published 27 books and over 75 articles on Indian folklore and literature.
