Subrahmanya : A compensation of Rs 2 lakh each was distributed to two families which lost one of their members each in wild elephant attack in the past two month period. The compensation was handed over to the bereaved families by Sullia MLA S Angara at a function held at Subrahmanya on February 23, Saturday. It may be recalled here that the forest department had announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the affected families.
Jalajakshi received the compensation on behalf of Kushalappa Gowda of Pulikukku village who was flung into the river by the wild pachyderm at Kodimbala village a few days ago.Vanishree, the wife of Hosoli Ram Bhat who was trampled to death by the pachyderm recently, also received the compensation.
Dr Dinesh, Forest Conservator, Balakrishna, Subrahmanya Range Forest Officer, ZP Member Devaraj, TP Member Vimala Rangayya, Subrahmanya GP Chief Pushpavathi,Subrahmanya Temple Committee President Krishnaprasad Madtila and others were present.
