Mangalore: Speaking at a symposium on how to eradicate corruption, Marline Martice, DEC director in city, stated that social/economic inequality and increasing gap between rich and poor have counter produced corruption, by way of leveling down uneven scales.
The event was organised at Town Hall on Sunday evening, by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind as part of its campaign towards a corruption-free society.
10% affluent families have cornered 50% of wealth that belongs to their poor counterparts. The gap between these 2 groups economically was widening daily.
Earlier, under Indira G, we had a movement to abolish poverty, but now the thrust is towards eliminating the poor, by crorepathis everywhere. Planning Commission also was cheating the really poor people. A.K. Kukkila presided.
