Ujire : Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Kalraj Mishra on Sunday said the youth should develop rural entrepreneurship with commitment, thereby strengthening the national economy. The government would offer required funding and other assistance for this initiative, he said.
Mr. Mishra was speaking after inaugurating the headquarters of Siri Gramodyoga Samsthe and convention of members of self-help groups, micro and small entrepreneurs at Dharmasthala in Belthangady taluk.
He said impetus has to be given to the Khadi village industries while micro enterprises should be established with the help of raw material available in rural areas. The government would offer necessary training. The younger generation, instead of hunting for jobs, should become entrepreneurs through this method, the Minister said.
Mr. Mishra said the Gram Swaraj, dreamt by Mahatma Gandhi, is being realised through the Dahrmasthala Rural Development Scheme.
Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade said the Siri Gramodyoga had a turnover of Rs. 25 crore last fiscal as there has been tremendous demand for various home products, cloth, incense sticks, phenol etc. There is an imminent need to revamp home and rural industries, he said. Mr. Heggade urged the Union Minister to render financial assistance for the training complex being built at Bengaluru to train executives of rural development and self-employment training institutes.
