Subrahamanya : The pilgrim shrines of Dakshina Kannada including Kukke Sri Subrahamanya Temple, Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple, Udupi Krishna Mutt, Dharmasthala Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple and Kateel Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple saw an unprecedented rush of devotees on May 27, Sunday, it being the last Sunday of the summer vacations of schools and colleges.
Thousands of devotees visited Kukke Sri Subrahamanya Temple on May 27, Sunday in view of Ashlesha Nakshatra Day and also the Day being Jeshta Shuddha Shashti day drawing curtains to festivities in the temple.
One could see long queue of devotees waiting to have a darshan of Lord Sri Subrahamanya. The temple management had a tough time making arrangement including food for the large number of devotees.
Even the vehicles of devotees arriving to the pilgrim shrine had queued up right from Kumaradhara itself and vehicles took long time to reach Subrahamanya from Kumaradhara, a distance of just two kms.
All lodges, hotels rooms were full and devotees had to struggle of find accommodation, food and other facilities. It has been learnt a record 2076 devotees offered Ashlesha Bali at the temple on the Ashlesha Nakshatra Day.
Among the dignitaries who visited the temple on this special day was Sudhindra Rajapakshe, son of Srilankan President .
