Mangalore : UT Khader, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare has convinced the people residing in Kodi, Kotepura and Mogaveerapatna to franchise their vote and withdraw their decision to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing the reporters at the press meet on April 14, Monday, resident committee president Abdul Rehman, said that the residents during the recent clashes in Ullal had threatened to boycott the election while placing the demands to free the innocents or else would boycott the election. But now the residents have withdrawn the decision to boycott since Minister Khader have assured to release them soon after the election.
Rehman said further too the committee will continue to pressurize the government through local elected representatives and free the arrested innocent locals.
He also said that they only demand to release the arrested 69 persons, out of which 47 belong to Kodi area alone. In turn Khader promised to discuss the issue with Home Minister and release them immediately.
