Mangalore: Speaking at the valedictory function of Ullal Queen Abbakka Festival here in city recently. Mangalore South Bishop Rev .Dr. J.S.Sadanand told a gathering at the University College hall that Abbakka not only fought against British Colonialism but all exploiters and racial wreckers in society, as such she became a world figure today. He was addressing seminar organized by Kannada and Culture Department and the Festival Committee. He pointed out that enough research had to be conducted to raise her great stature all over the world, as a fighter against exploitation and racial conflicts.
Dr.H.Shantharaman of Manipal Academy stressed on the need of bringing out the details of Queen Abbakka’s freedom fights on the West Coast against colonial forces.
Senior writer Sarah Abubakker and KSP former chief Harikrishna Punarooru were guests of honour.
Bhasker Rai Kukkuvalli General Secretary of Abbakka Festival Committee hoped that a book would be published containing all essays written about Queen Abbakka shortly.
