Mangaluru : Vittal police of Dakshina Kannada district have arrested a man on the charges of stealing jewellery from a house in Idkidu village in Mittur of Bantwal taluk.

The arrested is Mohammed K U,42, from Taliparamba in Kannur of Kerala.

Police said a complaint was filed after the jewellery was stolen from a house on March 9 between 11pm and 4am the next day.

The accused had entered into the house by breaking open the back door and stole 107 grams of gold ornaments worth about Rs 4.28 lakh.

Investigation revealed that the accused had sold the stolen gold to a jewellery store in Kasaragod and police seized 80.1gram gold worth Rs 3.7 lakh.
