Mangalore : deputy speaker N Yogish Bhat inaugurated the 105th birth anniversary of Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram, late deputy prime minister at ZP Nethravathi Auditorium on April 5 Thursday.
The event was jointly organized by the DK district administration, the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), the DK Zilla Panchayath (ZP), and the Department of Social Welfare.
Speaking on the occasion, N Yogish Bhat said that Babu Jagjivan Ram played an active role in India’s green revolution and announced that India’s achievement in self-sufficiency in food. As a union minister for agriculture for two successive terms, he also worked as the defense minister during the Indo-Pak war.
ZP assistant secretary Y. Shivaramaiah, delivered the keynote address and said that Dr. Ram fought against evils in Hindu society enduring as a Hindu.
ZP president K. T. Shailaja Bhat, MLA U. T. Khader; Vice President Dhanalakshmi Janardhan; DC Dr. Channappa Gowda; ZP CEO Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, deputy mayor Amitakala, and MCC commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar, were present.
