Mangaluru: In an incident reported, a 11-year-old boy put up a brave fight with a python which had pounced on him and managed to save himself from the giant reptile.
The incident took place at Kolake in Sajipa viilage of Bantwal taluk on Tuesday, when the boy Vaishakh, a class V student of Adarsha English Medium School, Sajipa was going to his grandparents house neaby his home after returning from school.
While he was walking along the path dotted by thick bushes a python suddenly pounced on him thereby causing the boy to fall on the ground. The boy did not show any signs of panicking as the python encircled his body.
Rather the alert boy spotted a sharp stone nearby and started attacking the python that was trying to swallow him, thereby causing serious injuries to its eyes. Shaken by the attack on itself the python released its grip on the boy.
It is also gathered that having heard Vaishakh cries for help, a neighbourhood girl Harshitha rushed to save him. But he prevented her from coming near sensing danger to her. Once the python moved away the girl lifted him and took him to his house.
During the struggle, the boy suffered serious injuries on his hands, legs and other parts of the body and was immediately admitted to a private hospital at B.C. Road. He was later shifted to Father Muller Hospital, Thumbe for further treatment. Since the condition of the boy became serious, he was once again shifted to Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru. He is in the intensive care unit of the hospital. ICU, but remains out of danger.
