Mangaluru: The national level children’s festival ‘Krishna Vesha’ competition organised by Kalkura Foundation, on account of Krishna Janmashtami held at Kadri Manjunatha temple premises on Friday, August 23.
The little Krishnas dressed in beautiful dhotis, holding flutes and donning a peacock feather on their heads was a sight to behold.
The competition was held in 30 different categories including ‘Kanda Krishna’, ‘Muddu Krishna’, ‘Geetha Krishna’, ‘Yaksha Krishna’, ‘Radha Krishna’, ‘Radha Madhava’, ‘Yashodha Madhava’, ‘Devaki Krishna’ among others. A category of ‘Chaya Krishna’ was meant for the photos of tiny Krishnas. Drawing and painting competitions were also held on the theme of the day.
The venue became a witness to some mixed emotions. While some little Krishnas enjoyed the attention and the clothes, some cried. While some confidently performed on the stage, some refused to be a part of the competition. All in all, the event was a huge success due to the number of participants.
Every child participating in the event was gifted with an idol of Udupi Kadagolu Krishna, books relating to Lord Krishna, certificates, photographs of Lord Manjunatha and a Bhagavadgeetha book. Special encouragement was given to differently-abled children during the event.
