Mangalore : 2 Jatha’s of men and women who suffered murders of their kith and kin since 1985 still the death of Sowjanya , in October 2012,(enquiry started in Oct.2013), Belthangady via Moodbidri, and Gurpura to Mangalore and another from Sullia via Puttur ,Mani ,Bantwal to Mangalore arrived in great spirits around known on 26th Nov. to participate in a public protest rally address by a galaxy of CPI(M) leaders and both men and women on the violence that was practiced against right of life and decent living in Ujire and Belthangady since 1980 when Padmalatha, Vedavalli were in humanly sacrificed for the lust of a gang made up of persons who were involved in social service and educational activities in Ujire and Dharmasthala
This gang of about 25 people known to one another in Ujire and Dharmasthala in Belthangady taluk, it is a alleged, had committed atrocities against lady students and working women in rural development schemes to the extent of colossal figure of over 450 murder cases in the last 3 decades since 1980 till now. The CPI(M) leaders like Politburo member Vasudevacharya (who replaced Sitaram Yechury who could not come), Mahila Samithi leader at the Center, Vasuki, Southern leader Shriram Reddy and many others spoke at the rally and stirred emotions of sympathy, lose and irony of faith and such other better feelings in view of the violent acts of maltreatment and murders by a leading Jain family that should have practices non-violence preached by Bahubali Jain and other Jain saints all the centuries in India.
The speakers of the day refer to the Karnataka Govt. which was sleeping like Kumbhakarna of Ramayana for long years without a since of justice as guaranteed by the Constitution of India since 1947 to the people who practice demo grassy of equal rights to the people’s rights to live and work in a sense equality for the rich and the poor alike.
MP Vasudevacharya vowed to make this issue of right of equality and life a national matter and fight for these rights in their ensured all over India, especially in Karnataka with special reference to Dharmasthala which as a Guinness record for murders in a center of pilgrimage.
The MP demanded an immediate end to the violence practice by a leading Jain family of Dharmasthala in Ujire and asked the Karnataka Govt. to arrange for a CBI enquiry not only into Sowjanya’s case but also the 470 cases that preceded such a ghastly murders act.
Sowjanya’s parents came the all way from Ujire to Mangalore to take part in the largely attended the rally of protest. CPI(M) leadership told the people it was the only political party that took up Sowjanya’s case seeking justice via CBI enquiry and asked for all other previous cases since 1980 to be opened up to punish every culprit who as surveyed in all the cases till now. It means that ruling congress party whether in Delhi or Bangalore and the BJP rulers who lost their 9 year reign in Karnataka or any other political party for that matter which had any moral leanings did not so far bother about the deaths of young women in and around Dharmasthala all these years.
CPI (M) leaders S. Shankarappa a celebrated SE Lawyer , Krishne Gowda from Bangalore, B. Madava local secretary, Vasanthachary who led the Jatha from Sullia to Mangalore along with Swami Kabirananda of Gulbarga and many others were present and Sowjanya’s parents and relatives of those killed in the last 3 decades who came to Mangalore in the 2 Jatha’s were present at the massive rally.
