Mangalore : “Sri Odiyur Kshetra Mahatme” a new Yakshagana play was written by Taranath Varkadi on the occasion of 50th birthday celebrations of Odiyur Math Swamiji, held in Town Hall on Wednesday afternoon (from 2 PM to 8 PM) with brilliant artistes participating in the show.
Odiyur Math Seer Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji blessed the followers in a speech made on the occasion, he stressed upon the exposition of culture to maintain a harmonious balance between temples and human responsibilities. Art can provide a stage for culture to express itself, the Odiyur Guru said. He lauded the attempt of presenting the greatness of Odiyur through the folk art of Yakshagana. Mathan andamayi was in the audience.
Kumble Sunder Rao, state yakshagana Academy president (winner of Kalanidhi award). Former Chairman of Kannada Sahitya Parisat, Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor and Dr. N. Narayana Shetty of Seemanthoor were chief guests on the occasion Manila Mohandas Swamiji graced the celebrations.
J. Jayant Kotian President of Odiyuru Seva Balaga welcomed the gathering.
