Padubidri  : The Padubidri police on August 9 Sunday, arrested two people for robbing country fishing boat engines fitted in it.

The arrested are identified as Husain alias Salim (43), a resident of Permannur and Ismail Hussain (46) of Ullala Kodi.

Reportedly the arrested were taking the engines in autorickshaw, But when the police stopped the auto during night beat during night beat, they moved on. On getting the suspicion, police chased the auto and seized the engines from the duo.

During the police interrogation, the duo revealed that they have robbed more than 25 engines at various places including Manjeshwar, Ullal, Bengre, Bolar, Bunder, Mukka, Gangolli and Malpe ports. Later the duo used to sell the engines in Gujarat using fake documents. On getting the information of engines being transported to Gujarat in the fish fertilizer laden lorries, the police also seized the lorry and engines worth Rs 5.5 lakh.
