Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association, Mangaluru Press Club and Press Club jointly organized ‘Press Club Day’ at Lions Seva Mandir in Mallikatte on Saturday, May 30.
Speaking on the occasion Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar said that, journalism field are always very busy and interesting. Journalists communicating news service very carefully to the society. But, today in their busy schedules they have managed to gather here to celebrate Press Club Day, he added.
Renowned musician and singer Gurukiran, who was the Chief Guest, said that there are similarities between musicians and journalists and one among them was that both groups work under extreme stress and pressure.
Speaking on the occasion, President of Karnataka Journalists’ Working Association N Raju said that journalists lead a very compromising life. They are not entitled to even basic facilities such as job security and hence, there is a need to fight for it.
Bureau Chief of Udayavani Mangaluru Manohar Prasad also spoke.
B Raveendra Shetty, Mounesh Vishwakarma, Agnel Rodrigues, Dayananda Kukkaje and Apul were felicitated. Raveendra Shetty Kavoor, who directed ‘Chaalipolilu’ a Tulu movie also felicitated.
Mangaluru North MLA Moideen Bava was present among others.
