Mangaluru : Environmentalist like, Saalumarada Thimmakka might have dedicated their entire life for the cause of Mother Nature. She created history by planting many trees selflessly and is striving ceaselessly for the cause of environment, but that she suffering from the disease of poverty, with complete knowledge our administrations and governments. Ignorantly the government has been treating environmentalists like this, doing injustice to such a great woman. The plight of Saalumarada Thimmakka came of in open, when Umesh N, her adopted son, expressed this at a press meet, held prior, a book release function, which she participated on August 22, Saturday.
Without the selfless thought, Thimmakka strived hard and might have become popular personality inspite of not seeking any publicity, but now her life is full of difficulties, as she has to depend just Rs.500/- she gets by way of Senior Citizens’ Pension Scheme. Her line of poverty line is self explained, ‘said Umesh.
The State Government or the Centre has not come forward to do anything for her even when she was ill and hospitalized. There is no use of the leaders making a beeline to the hospital and assuring her he said. If the government is really concerned of such person who have lived for and by nature should come forward and act, when she was alive.
Hence Umesh made a direct an appeal directly to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to come to the aid of his mother and also pointed. That still she was not conferred the Karnataka Ratna Award.
