New Delhi: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in a Congress plenary session offered to appear before Public Accounts Committee (PAC), even as an unprecedented action as PM, as he had nothing to hide on the various scandals involving Congress leaders in India and in order to clarify his role if any. But the BJP has rejected this offer, to answer questions on various scams (2 G, CWG, Adarsh and others). The PAC is heeded by Murali Manohar Joshi of BJP. It has summoned some suspected bureaucrats to answer charges made against them.
Dr. Singh was like Caesar’s wife, above suspicion, but BJP has accused him of not preventing corruption when it was happening at the initial stages and he is defensive now. Arun Jaitley contrasted JPC and PAC. He asked PM to come forward and tell it all in Parliament and not in a place of his choice. (PM’s). He (Jaitley) cited the large scale loss in 2 G funds and related all that needed to be told to a group of Parliamentarians.
BJP had to freeze the Parliament for 25 days, a whole session without any work, as 2 G scam fell on the Parliament, Jaitley said that PAC has limited scope, while JPC had wide powers to look into every scam in which UPA / Congress was involved.
