Bangalore: The national Tricolour flag was today hoisted at the Manekshaw Parade grounds by state Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj in an atmosphere of tight police security. Today marks the 62nd Republic Day celebrations.
Governor took the salute and inspected the Guard of Honour in an open Jeep amidst applause, cheers and waving of small flags by children in a 5000 crowd.
Rose petals were dropped from a helicopter overhead when the head of the state unfurled the Indian national flag on a bright sunny morning and then the national anthem was played by military bands present.
