Mangalore : The Akhila Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishath organized ‘Vivekotsava-2011’ as a part of celebrating the birth anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda and Subhash Chandra Bose at Town Hall on Jan 28, Friday.
Addressing the gathering as the chief speaker, Advocate Padmaprasad Hegde, said that as a members of ABVP during his college days, he had learnt to respect the country and its national leaders.
He also said that, even during the year 1990, the members of ABVP and other organization went to Kashmir to hoist the Indian flag and after great effort, it was successful, but in spite of organization have large number of members, it has failed due to the gimmick of central government.
He urged the political leaders, whether the country got real independence. The country must observe black day on August 14, since Kashmir was separated from the country.
Criticizing Indira Gandhi, he said that many leaders in the name of Gandhi many leaders rule the country. He said that Indira Gandhi was not actually Gandhi, but she was married to Firoz Gandy and in order to fool the people it was changed to Gandhi. Now the Gandhi leaders who all are ruling the country are not opposing for the separation of Kashmir from India.
If the student’s power stand firm in their decision to save the country, then no one else can dare to destroy it, he added. The central government will protect the terrorist Afsal Guru of Mumbai terror attack because his community people feel bad, we don’t want such minister to rule our country, he said.
The word ‘India’ itself gives the feeling of British slavery; hence we must bring back the term ‘Bharath’, which makes every one proud.
Speaking about the humanity of Swamy Vivekananda, Hegde said that Vivekananda was the only Indian person who called the Americans as brothers and sisters in the speech. If Rajiv Gandhi would follow his principles, then we would get Sister Sonia like Sister Niveditha and not a threat to our country.
Chief Guest C N Shankar Rao, lecturer Sociology, Canara College, said that Subhash Chandra Bose was also inspired by Swamy Vivekananda. Vivekananda had the ability to hold the audience in his speech.
Recalling the words of renowned poet Rabindranath Tagore, Rao said that, if anyone want to learn about India, then he must first know about Swamy Vivekananda.
Jithendra Kottary participated as the chief guest. Rajaram presided over the event. Anil Kumar delivered the introductory speech. Capt Ganesh Karnik, Manohar Thulajaram, district president, VHP and Muralidhar Nayak, lecturer, Mangalore University were present.
Ashwini rendered the invocation. Sujith, ABVP Taluk convener compered the programme. Vikram, president ACSU, welcomed the gathering. Mahesh ABVP city secretary proposed vote of thanks.
Prior to the stage programme, the members of ABVP organized the procession from Jyothi Circle to Town Hall.
