Mangaluru: A second PU science student allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the college building in Alvas Education Foundation, Moodbidri, on Thursday. The victim reportedly left a behind a suicide note which stated that she took the extreme step due to niggling health issues and poor academic performance, according to police.
Meanwhile, institution chairman Dr M Mohan Alva, reacted there is no foul play suspected in the death of student and she ended her life due to personal reasons.
The victim has been identified as Rachana, 18, second PU science student and native of Chitradurga district. According to police, there were no classes due to revision holidays. All students used to come to library from their respective hostels after 8am.
Rachana as usual came to library around 8.30am. Later on, she went around her class room building and jumped off from fifth floor of the building. The severely injured victim was rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru where she succumbed to her injuries in the noon.
Police said in the suicide note she stated that she was taking the extreme step as she was suffering from blood cancer and her scores were poor in physics exam.
Her parents, who stay in Chitradurga were informed about the incident and have reached to Mangaluru.
It can be recalled that on January 8, Tejas, 17, first PU science student, resident of Bengaluru allegedly committed suicide by hanging at his hostel room when all his roommates had gone for dinner.
A case has been registered at Moodbidri police station. In July last, Kavya, a SSLC student hailing from Kateel and a promising young badminton was found hanging at her hostel room.
