Mijar: The Village games Festival that raised great expectations and was publicized avidly by newspapers, was on Saturday and Sunday (Feb12-13) at Mijar. It rejuvenated the traditional rural games and sports in Tulunadu at S.B.Temple around at Badaga Yeadapadavu. There were many competitions for youngsters and adults alike. Even children and senior citizens, besides ladies participated in such competitions as suited them by age and experience.
Cash and Gold-Silver-Bronze medals were taken away by the winners in all competitions arranged by Bhojan Mandali. The games included cycling race, drawings, gunny bag race, body building, mud field running for couples etc.. Around 1250 persons had participated in all these sports and games with great enthusiasm.
A splendid dance performance by Shobana belonging to Lalita-Padmini household from Kerala, was the final cultural event and a highlight of entire Kreedotsava, a rare event indeed.
