Bangalore : Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who returned from Delhi, today held a meeting with legislators, even as the BJP Parliamentary Board asked him to step down following his indictment in the final report of the Lokayukta on illegal mining in the State.
Absence of senior leaders and Ministers, including Dr V S Acharya, Jagadish Shetter, Sadananda Gowda, Party Chief K S Eshwarappa, at the meeting was conspicuous.
Among the Ministers, only Mr Renukacharya and Ms Shobha Kharandlje were seen entering the meeting venue.
Former BJP National President Rajnath Singh and Opposition Leader in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley are expected to arrive here tomorrow for meeting the legislators to elect a new leader.
Mr Yeddyurappa stated at the airport soon after his return that he would hold a meeting of the legislators and go to Delhi on July 31.
A sombre picture was witnessed at the Chief Minister’s official residence with only a handful of legislators turning up for the meeting.
