Mangalore : Anti-corruption Committee, Mangalore and Social and Cultural Research Centre, Canara College, Mangalore jointly organize a special ceremony for the youth to take Oath against corruption at T V Raman Pai Hall on October 15

Presiding as the chief guest, Justice N Santhosh Hegde, said that the students must take action to stop corruption as much as possible. He said that during the last 5 years, he has visited over 1000 schools and colleges and had an interaction in order to reduce the corruption and change their minds and has also got satisfaction.

He also said that earlier people used say that the corruptors can be caught with five fingers, but unfortunately, it does not happen with corruptors, but only sincere people will be caught in a hand.

He also said that many villages in Karnataka still do not have proper drainage facility, drinking water facility and other basic facilities. In the year 2006-07, the central government had sanctioned the fund of Rs 51,000 crore for the projects of rural villages like drainage, roads, water, mid day meal for schools and other, but till last the amount went uncounted.

Today there is corruption in one or another way and I don’t have hope that we can stop corruption, since there is allegation against many people. The one who take bribe is not only criminal, but one who pay bribe are also criminal, he said.

Participating as the chief guest, Ananthakrishna, chairman of Karnataka Bank said that today every field in public life feel sad for the way they are forced to live in today’s world.

Delivering the key note address, Erya Laxminarayan Alva he was happy to see the youth of the nation who participated actively in the fight against corruption organized by Anna Hazare recently and said that the flame of idealism and nationalism should be sustained at any cost.

Justice Santhosh Hegde conducted the oath ceremony to the students and later felicitated social activist Sudutta Jain and Santhosh Kavoor for their fight against corruption and supporting Anna Hazare with the fast of six and half day near Town Hall.

Ranjan Rao of Canara College and Akshatha Shetty of KSHEMA delivered their opinion on corruption in the country.
