Mangalore : The District Congress and Youth Congress jointly staged protest in front of DC Office on October 20, Thursday against the power crisis in the state.
Addressing protestors, MLA Abhaychandra Jain said that the state government had promised 24-hour power supply while coming to power, but now it has failed to keep its promise.
He also criticized the government for blaming previous governments for the state’s power problems. He opined that the BJP, which is almost on the verge of completing its 5-year term in power, had enough time to solve the power problem.
Speaking about corruption in the state, he said the state government has made enough money in every developmental project at every level.
When asked opposition ministers asked the ruling ministers about saving the power in the assembly, they in return question them about the mega watt of electricity saved in past years, he said.
Now the state government is making lot of profits every projects, so that they distribute money and gain votes, he added.
Farooq Ullal said that the state government have even increased the milk price and put common people in difficulty. The state government ministers became minister to do business and not serve the people.
Kodijal Ibrahim presided over the protest meet and said that the state government is only interested in corruption and not in the development of the city.
He also said that before coming into politics, State Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje did not had finance to look after her own expenditure, but now she is the owner of Rs 300 crore worth property.
The state has proved to be a failure in every aspect, he added.
Youth Congress President Mithun Rai, KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza, Lancelot Pinto, Praveenchandra Shetty, Mamath Shenoy, Idhinabba, TK Sudhir, Farooq Ullal and others were present at the protest.
