Mangalore: Library is a great source of learning and research, helpful to student and adults a like, in absorbing facts and figures on any subjects, with great deal of patience in a quiet locality.
The All India Association was established in 1933 in Kolkata (Bengal), to create a Library movement in furtherance of human learning and development of suitable knowledge, like a home of education.
The Association has over 7000 membership of India and SAARC countries, from various schools, colleges, universities, public and specialised libraries in India.
The Association has always worked hard to improve Library movement, information technology education and research, and has formed various rules and regulations to benefit readers at large.
The headquarters of the Association is now in New Delhi. In its annual meetings in various par of India, the Library Association conducts discussion on professional, technical and institutional matters, to widen the horizons of all knowledge.
For the first time such a meeting is held at St. Agnes` college in Bendoor, from Feb. 23 to 25 at the level of college in Karnataka, in Mangalore. The St Agnes College has post graduate and research libraries, and in association with college Libraries Association, its 57th national conference is taking place in city Prof. Bhat Bharat Mehra and Dr. A.K. Keshvaraj will make central speeches, said Dr. B.K. Vishala (Librarian of St. Agnes College) on Jan. 30 here.
An informative Handbook of this 57th conference was released in Bangalore this week by Director of collegiate Education, Shashidar.
