Mangalore:  The convocation of Manipal University was held at the TMA Pai International Convention Centre in Mangalore on May 12, Saturday.

Sayyed E Hasnain, Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister, emphasized the need for liberalization in the field of higher education. Referring to certain tight compartments in the current education system, he added they need to be broken.

Ramdas M Pai, Chancellor, HS Ballal, pro-chancellor, K Ramnarayan, Vice Chancellor, GK Prabhu, Registrar, Indira Bairy, Director (Student Affairs), HN Udayashanker, Registrar (evaluation) and others were present on the occasion.

Degrees were presented and awards were handed over to gold medal winners and  Ph.D holders.
