Mangalore : Jagrutha Hindu Mahila Vedike convener Prasanna Ravi said that the Shamina Shafiq, member of the National Commission for Women (NCW) has not even shown courtesy to meet the team of women, who was waiting to meet her on her visit to Circuit House on August 17, Friday.

She was speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on August 18, Saturday. She said that Shamina Shafiq had earlier rejected to meet the women’s of Padil localities, then after requesting and waiting for 1 and half, she agreed to meet them for 5 minutes.

When the women’s submitted the memorandum of pathetic incidents which took place in various parts of our country, she did not accept it and just took and kept it aside without going through it. When we spoke about the activities like Love Jehad, sex mafia drug mafia taking place against the Women in Mangalore, she said to discuss the matter with state government and it is not related to her, she said very rudely.

Prasanna Ravi also said that she has urged Shamina to visit the young girl who was raped for two months in Mangalore, but she immediately rejected and said the purpose of her visit. Shamina had also visited the Morning Mist Home Stay and inspected for one hour, during that time the women of localities were waiting to hand over  the memorandum, she did not respond to them, she said.

We condemn the behavior of National Commission for Women chairperson and will send a copy of memorandum through media to the State Women’s Commission, she added.
