Mangalore : For the first time in its history, the New Mangalore Port Trust handled 10,000 bags of salt meant for sale in Mangalore.
The vessel MV All Cargo Arati called on the New Mangalore Port on Sunday from the Kandla Port. It carried 400 metric tonnes of salt which was unloaded and the vessel set sail on Monday.
The consignment had salt from different companies of different varieties procured by the distributor for local sales. M/s. Sri Ganesh Shipping Agency were the Stevedoring, C&F & handling agents.
According to Dr. P. Tamilvanan, Chairman of NMPT the port was making every effort to increase the volume of diversified cargo. He said the Port has handled 16.04 million metric tonnes of cargo during the current year as against 15.63 million metric tonnes handled during the corresponding period of previous year.
