Mangalore: The Konkani Sahitya Academy in association with Raknno Konkani weekly organized a seminar on Century Growth of Konkani Novels on October 6, Saturday. Basti Vaman Shenoy, President of Konkani Bhas and Sanskriti Foundation, inaugurated the programme.
In his address, Shenoy emphasized the need for serious thinking on the contributions of veteran Konkani writers.
Krishna Kimbahune, officer-in-charge of Sahitya Academy, regional office Mumbai, Pundalik Naik, convenor of Konkani Advisory board, Sahitya Academy and Fr Francis Rodrigues, Member of Konkani Advisory board, Sahitya Academy were the chief guests.
The programme also has a discussion on growth of Konkani novels in Karnataka and Goa.
An exhibition cum sale of Konkani books was also inaugurated. The books will be available at a discount of 20 per cent. The exhibition will be held upto October 9.
Dr Edward Nazareth, Edwin JF D’Souza, Stephen Quadra, Gokuldas Prabhu, Prakash Vazrikar, Sushil Noronha and others were present.
