Mangalore: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president M C Venugopal said that Indian National Congress President Sonia Gandhi will participate in the Congress Workers’ Convention to be held at Nehru Maidan on October 18, Thursday.
He was speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands on October 17, Wednesday. The convention will be held under the leadership of G Parameshwar and congress leaders like Oscar Fernandes, Veerappa Moily will participate in the convention.
He also said that the congress OBC leaders in both the districts have taken a pledge that they will take back all the 8 constituencies in Dakshina Kannada and 5 in Udupi and protect the congress party.
Speaking on the OBC population, he said that till now the OBC survey has not been done and report was also not given. The state did not work for the benefit of the OBC and not sanctioned any funds for their welfare.
Criticizing BJP, he said that BJP had implemented the income limit system for free education and cheated OBC students from getting free education. The OBC have printed 10,000 pamphlets about BJP’s injustice and will distribute to the people.
Sonia Gandhi is participating in the Congress Convention in Mangalore after 5 years, hence people are more eager to see and hear her speech.
He also said that OBC has decided to gather 500 party workers from 16 blocks in DK and 10 blocks in Udupi.
In order to create awareness on Sonia Gandhi’s visit to the city, Congress party worker Amrit Kadri will organize motor bike rally which will start from Kadri park at 12 pm and will reach Nehru Maidan at 1 p.m.
Nilayya Agari, Amrit Kadri, Sadashiva Ullal, M P Manuraj, and Dharnedra Kumar were also present.
