Belthangady: The government has finally ordered a CID probe into the Sowjanya rape and murder case reported from Pangala near Dharmasthala on October 10. It may be recalled here that there had been a vehement demand from various corners to hand over the case to the CBI.

Even D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, had recently demanded a CBI probe. Various other organizations including Kemar seer too have urged for a CBI probe.

But the government has now chosen for a CID probe. According to home minister R Ashok, the police department has also been asked to track down individuals or groups engaged in a malicious propaganda against the Dharmasthala Temple authorities.
