Mangalore : A speeding Scorpio vehicle which failed to pay heed to the police instructions to stop, near Nantur –Padil on December30, Sunday, was finally stopped near the Besant College in Mangalore. However, the duo Basheer (22) and Sattar(23), who it is suspected, had planned to smuggle cattle, got a good beating from the public, before the police could arrest them.

The back seats of the Scorpio vehicle had been removed and this gave room for further doubt that they had planned to smuggle cattle. Even rods and ropes were found in the vehicle.

The duo was arrested. There is a suspicion that they were caught while smuggling cattle even earlier and one of them was released from prison just a few days back.

Kadri police are conducting the investigation.
