A group attacked 26-year-old bakery owner

Ullal sweet BakeryUllal : A four-member group allegedly assaulted a 26-year-old bakery owner and stole Rs. 10,000 from his shop in Mastikatta in Ullal police station limits on Wednesday night.

The Ullal police said that the gang allegedly trooped into Sweet Bazar and General Stores and hit Abdul Salam (26). Some among the gang members were holding sharp weapons.

When Salam raised the alarm, the gang ran away, with the money from the cash tray.

Ullal sweet BakeryThe police said that Salam had injuries on his head, neck, shoulders and thighs and has been admitted to a private hospital on Falnir road.

The Central Crime Branch police have arrested five persons on the charge of robbery. The police have identified the accused as Santosh Kumar (19), Goutam (19), Nitin Kumar (24), Dhiraj (24) and Dhanajay (19).

The police have seized two machetes, an iron rod and three mobile phones. The accused were allegedly involved in a dacoity reported in Mangaluru South police station limits last year.

They were in judicial custody for four months and had been released on bail few weeks ago.
