Mangaluru : Three private schools in Mangaluru received emails threatening of explosive substances on their premises. The police did a thorough check and found the threats to be hoaxes.
Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said a general email threatening of presence of an improvised explosive device in the school was sent to Manipal School in Attavar in Mangaluru South Police Station limits, Presidency School and PU College, and Cambridge School, both in Mangaluru Rural Police Station limits. The emails, which were addressed to principals of the institutions, were sent around 4.30 a.m. on Monday.
Following this, police teams were sent to the schools immediately. A thorough anti-sabotage check (ASC) was conducted by ASC and Bomb Disposal Squads in the three schools. No suspicious items were found in the schools. Police personnel were deployed to ensure the safety of students and staff at the schools, he said.
Similarly checks were also carried out at Sharada Residential School, Kunjibettu in Udupi, whose principal also received an email threatening an explosion. As no substances were found, the threat email was found to be hoax.
