Mangaluru : Sharath, who was attacked by unknown miscreants at B.C. Road on Tuesday, his condition continued to be critical on Wednesday, the police have said that the assailants will soon be arrested.
Sharath, who runs a laundry at B.C. Road, was attacked with lethal weapons when he was coming out of the shop after closing the business for the day. He was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police (Western Range) P. Harisekharan said that the assailants would soon be arrested even as he warned that stringent action will be taken against those indulging in violating the law. He said that security has been enhanced in Bantwal taluk to prevent any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that there appeared to be concerted efforts to disturb peace in the State. He told reporters here that the attack on Sharath, who, he said, was a volunteer of the RSS, is the continuation of the attacks on Sangh Parivar volunteers across the State.
Mr. Kateel said that fundamentalists are being encouraged during the Congress regime in the State and the government had failed to maintain law and order. The MP met the attack victim in hospital and inquired about his well-being.
Condemning the attack, Sanjeeva Matandoor, president, Dakshina Kannada unit of the BJP, said that the police should act swiftly to identify those behind the attack and arrest them. With the Congress in government, such attacks were on the rise, he alleged.
