Mangalore: There were fire-brigade helmet-wearing personnel all over the airfield, ambulances kept on alert and stretchers were carried around as if the Kenjaru(Bajpe) airport was in a siege on Friday, and airport employers had hectic activity, not due to an emergency state, but a mock drill at the end of a safety week was in progress as an annual event to tone up readiness to meet an eventuality.
It was held to test the efficiency of the fire services and emergency handlers as an annual routine, to keep everything ‘Safe’.
M.R. Vasudeva Rao, director informed that safety week began on April 14. He wanted people to be aware that airport was concerned about its safety measures in all aspects of air movements.
After the mock rehearsal(of a drill), everything was normal and the exercise was then declared as successful.
Airport officials kept a watch on the entire rehearsal for emergency events.
