Mangaluru : Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Reddy told the bank authorities to ensure that the CCTV cameras are installed in the outdoors of the banks as well. This will help the police to tackle theft cases more efficiently, he said.
Chairing the bank security meet in the city police commissioner’s office in Mangaluru on Tuesday, the SP said that the cooperative banks too must instal CCTV cameras. The banks should see that the CCTV footage is kept intact.
“The doors of the banks should be enabled with motion sensors. The security guards appointed at the banks and at the ATMs should be physically fit. The gun licenses of security guards should be renewed on time. The bank managers should verify night patrolling by the beat constables in their respective areas”.
The SP further said that some banks have not been handing over the certified documents to the police, during investigations related to cheating cases. If necessary documents are provided on time, investigations could be finished on time and the suspects could be arrested. Since the banks are delaying in handing over the documents, investigation of cheating cases is taking a long time.
The SP clarified that the police department only gives physical protection to bank officials who are on loan recovery visits. The police do not involve in the recovery process.
District Lead Bank Manager Raghava Yajamanya said that the ATMs should be provided with standby light during power cuts. Also, fake note detectors should be kept at all banks.
