Mangalore : The former president of the Bantwal Taluk Panchayat Chandrahas Shetty Bolanthur (45), shot himself with a revolver at his old house at Bolanthur in Bantwal on August 17, Wednesday and now in a critical condition at a private hospital in Mangalore.
According to the said it is said that Mr. Shetty, a businessman, told his family members that he would like to visit the old house, located at a short distance from his new house. When his family did not found him back till noon, they went in search of him and found that he had locked himself inside the house.
When Shetty he did not respond to the calling bell, then one Gangadhar Rai broked the door and enter the house, where he saw him lying with a wound.
Later he was immediately rushed to a private hospital and then shifted to another private hospital.
MLA B. Ramanath Rai and Bondala Jagannath Shetty, the former MLA, rushed to visit him in hospital.
The police also said that Mr. Shetty had left a suicide note stating that the attempt is being made to make him free from a painful incurable disease.
Bantwal circle inspector Vivekananda and the Vittla sub inspector Rakshit Gowda visited the spot.
