Mangaluru: Honesty is the most important thing which is needed during the duty of the officers said State Energy Minister D K Shivakumar.

After inaugurating a training programme organised by KPTCL and MESCOM ‘Abhikshana’ at Kulshekar church premises on Saturday, July 16, he said that the department people should uphold the values of honesty.

“No one should receive or demand for bribe. Strict action will be taken against those officials or staffs. I dismissed 21 engineers over the solar rooftop scam. Still some are waiting for their dismissal order. They will be dismissed within a week,” he said.

Commenting on the future plans of the department, he said that the department is planning to generate 5000-6000 MW within two years. In DK wind and solar energy plants will be constructed in each taluk. So, the generated power will be distributed to the local areas. “Soon 10000 people will be appointed to both KPTCL and MESCOM, to strengthen the department. Recently we directly appointed 11952 linemen and other professionals also. This is the biggest recruitment ever done in the history of the department,” he added.
