Mangaluru : Congress corporator Bhaskar Moily has been chosen as the new Mayor of Mangaluru city corporation.

This morning, District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai along with MLA J R Lobo, MLA Moideen Bawa, MLC Ivan D’Souza, mayor Kavitha Sanil and other congress corporators’ held the meeting in which Bhaskar Moily was chosen.

In presence of election officer Shivayogi Kalasada 59 corporators, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo and MLC Ivan D’Souza were present and voted in the election.

Mohammed Kunjathabail from Congress was elected as deputy mayor. He secured 37 votes while Meera Karkera from BJP secured 19 votes. Five corporators remained neutral.

ADC Kumar and MCC commissioner Nazeer were present.
