Udupi: The Brahmakalashotsava celebrations, renovations of the platform “Pauli” of the 800 year old Sri Krishna Mutt is being held from 14 to the 18 of May.

The entire renovation of the Pauli cost upto Rs.2.8 crores. Over 3,000 cubic feet of best quality wood was brought from government timber depots and saw mills were being used for the renovation. Around 50 craftsmen carpenters working in teams completed the entire project. The height of the roof has been increased to provide better ventilation in the temple premises. The roof of the Muth is now covered with copper sheets, 12 tonnes of copper has been used for the sheets, and copper nails weighing 500 kg have been used to ensure that they do not gather rust over a period of time.

1,008 silver pitches “Rajatha Kalashas” were brought in a procession from Jodu Katte to the temple on Tuesday. Horekanike and Kalashabhisheka were offered to Lord Sri Krishna. Important rituals like homas and other poojas are being performed in connection with the Brahmakalashotava Mahotsav at the temple premises from Sunday. Maha Annasantharpane is being provided to all the devotees visiting the temple during the event.

While the Paryaya festival is held once in two years, a Brahmakalashotsava festival will be held once in 12 years.

The main and the concluding Brahmakalashotsava ceremony will be held on the 18 of May at the Temple.
